While the official start of summer isn’t for another couple weeks, the season of sunshine has already arrived here in Loudoun County. Food festivals, outdoor wine tastings, cycling adventures, concerts and all kinds of other fun-filled diversions are underway. Visitors and locals alike are eager to make the most of vacation days and sunny skies.

The next few months are full of seasonal events and activities (not to mention picture-perfect weather), making it a great time to plan a trip to DC’s Wine Country. Check out some of our favorite summertime events below, from brewfests to island-style celebrations and more.

Cajun Festival & Crawfish Boil, June 14th – This weekend marks the 17th annual Cajun Festival & Crawfish Boil at Breaux Vineyards. This fun-for-all-ages event features wine tastings, craft vendors, live music, face painting, clowns and, of course, crawfish (and other delicious Cajun fare). In the words of someone wise, “Laissez les bons temps rouler!”

NOVA Brewfest, June 21st – 22nd – Beer lovers can rejoice in this summertime celebration of American brews. More than 60 of the nation’s best breweries will be on hand teaching eager crowds about the brewing process – as well as how-to make your own.  For food, there’ll be chicken wings, chili, barbecue, and more, plus live music, artisan vendors and a kid’s area, too.

Leesburg’s Independence Day Celebration, July 4th – Our nation’s big day is celebrated in style in the streets of Leesburg. Starting with a parade and ending with fireworks, revelers join a day-long party full of food, vendors, live tunes and tons of fun.

Key West Festival, July 12th – The ninth incarnation of this paradisiacal party offers everything you need for an island-style getaway. From wine-a-ritas to food vendors; reggae tunes to cooling stations; it’s as close as you’ll get to Key West without booking a flight.

Purcellville Wine and Food Festival, July 19th – Eating, drinking and being merry are the domain of summertime, and all of the above are covered at this annual festival. From tastings by 868 Estate Vineyards to nibbles by The Roving Italian – plus live music, festivities and fun-filled activities – you can count on good drinks, good eats and a good time.

Epicurience Virginia, August 29th – September 1st – The summer’s most anticipated gourmet affair is coming to Morven Park for its second annual incarnation. An ode to all things delicious, this epic food and wine event features celebrity chefs, top wineries, farm-to-table food, music and more. Already on board for this year – chef, cookbook author and cooking show host Nathalie Dupree, Todd Gray of Equinox Restaurant and Salamander Resort, and lots of other notable names and culinary all-stars. Tickets are on sale now .

Let the summer fun begin!
