Hurricane Sandy Travel Updates
The following information is provided by Visit Loudoun to assist travelers and displaced residents following Superstorm Sandy. Please scroll down for information on road closures, airport and flight status, and hotel availability and rates. ROAD CLOSURES
There are currently over 60 roads closed in Loudoun. Please check the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Traffic Information website for updates on road closures.
DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT UPDATES

Current Weather
Light Rain, 41 degrees. Current winds out of the SW at 10kts. Rain expected to be out of the area by 8pm.
Airport Status Dulles is OPEN. First General Aviation operation commenced at 0905. The first air carrier operations is for 1145L.
Only standing water in landside road ditches. No street side flooding observed or reported other than Route 606 near Horse Pen dam which may flood that road later this morning. VDOT is aware and signage is in place. No immediate impact to IAD traffic. All other roads passable.
Airfield in good condition. No issues to report. All surfaces open.

Facilities Maintenance personnel spent most of the night chasing small water leaks. The two largest leaks were located in the IAB Conference Room, B43 sterile corridor, and Gate D10 area requiring ceiling tile replacement. ABM janitorial performing clean-up in all affected areas.

Aircraft Parking Availability United has lined up 11 mainline aircraft on TXL E and will plan to be repositioned around their gates throughout the day. No other aircraft parked at gates. IAD Ops will plan for potential diversions once weather improves during NYC Airport shut down. NYC airports will be closed most of the day due to water.
ATC Delays Minimal Operations being conducted.
Stranded Passengers Main Terminal and midfield concourses appear empty except for employees.
Passenger Transportation Mobile Lounge service to Concourse D was suspended at 0240L and is operating “on demand”. Service will be increased as needed.
Passenger Parking Lot shuttles have ceased and are now on demand and will resume Tuesday at 0800 am. Employee bus operations resumed at 0400 with a 4 bus rotation until noon. From Noon to 1500, 6 buses will be in operation.
Aerotrain operating normally.
Open Concessions All concessions have been urged to open by noon today, with exception to C and D gates.
A & B Concessions: Starbucks open, Harry’s Tap Room and Great American Bagel will open at 10am; C & D: Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks at D and C24; Main Terminal Starbucks, Guava Java, Harry’s Tap Room, Cinnabon and two Newsstands are open.
The USO is closed and will resume normal hours on Wednesday.
CBP Status FIS CLSD. IAB Operational and fully staffed, but no activity.
TSA Wait Times Nobody waiting at checkpoints. Employee Checkpoint and East Checkpoint currently open.
Toll Road Status Power has been restored to the Main Admin Building per DOT. Spring Hill Toll Booths eastbound & Capital East booths are without power. No status on when power will return, but generators are enroute to provide temporary power. All HOV Restrictions are still lifted through the afternoon of Oct 30.
