Last week I participated in a golf outing at Goose Creek Golf Club. It had been a while since I played this wide-open, fun layout, and I was excited. Leading into the tournament I was coming off a crisp season opening range session (by my low standards), and was feeling ready to take down Ben Hogan’s course record of a 59. In reality, my team played the loosest definition of “Best Ball” that has ever been uttered on the links, and we hacked our way to a front nine round of 37. Once again humbled by the game, I realized I need a lot more practice. Luckily, Loudoun has several great golfing options for me to hone my craft.

We all know good habits start at the range, so I’ll be sure to get some swings in at the Dulles Golf Center & Sports Park before venturing out for my next round. With schools letting out for the summer in the coming weeks this is also a great place to bring the whole family and choose between miniature golf, the batting cages, beach volleyball, and gemstone panning. For a next generation driving range experience, look out for updates on Top Golf Loudoun, set to open this fall across from One Loudoun.

Hole #17 at the RTJ Course at Lansdowne

The Golf Club at Lansdowne has been named by GolfStyles magazine as one of the Top 5 places to play in the DC area. Lansdowne has 45 holes of championship golf designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Greg Norman. As the course is only open to members and resort guests, it is the perfect location for a Loudoun golf getaway weekend. Lansdowne offers multiple golf-themed packages, including an unlimited play package Swing into Spring.

Father’s Day is coming up, and an afternoon on the links is a great way to spend time with your dad. Whether you like sharing laughs and cigars, or wagering on who can knock it closer to the pin, there is nothing like 18 holes on a Sunday. This year 1757 Golf Club is having a Father’s Day event featuring Prime Rib and Peel & Eat Shrimp, along with a free bucket of pre-round range balls for Dad. The course was designed by renowned architect David Heatwole and is truly a shot-maker’s dream that will challenge golfers of every ability level across its majestic landscape.
