Halloween Wine Cork and Bottle Crafts

                Many believe that Halloween is for children, but I completely disagree. The celebration of Halloween grows with us in stages. As a child, we dress up as our favorite superheroes and pop stars. As young adults, we hang out with our friends and go to parties. When we enter our professional career, it’s all about the office party and eventually, as a parent, Halloween revolves around dressing up kids in their costumes and passing out candy.

The other big part of Halloween is the decorations and this year, I found some clever ways to recycle my collection of Loudoun wine bottles. There are tons of Halloween crafts that require wine bottles and corks, so invite your friends over, drink some wine and spend the night making these fun fall decorations for your home.

Spider Web Wine Glasses

Turn your collection of LoCo wine glasses into Halloween decorations with this simple project.

Supplies:

• Wine glasses
• Glittery black glass paint in a squeeze bottle
  • It doesn’t have to be glittery and you could also use a paintbrush instead of a squeeze bottle, but a squeeze bottle might be easier.
    

    Spider Web Wine Glass

• Paper
• Pen
• Glitter (Optional depending on if you want scary or fun spider webs)
• Little spider charms (optional, but it adds the perfect touch)

                Method:

1. Place the wine glass on a piece of paper and trace the bottom of the glass
2. Mark six starting points on the circle opposite from each other
3. Using the glass paint squeeze bottle draw lines from the marks on the paper up to the stem of the glass
4. Starting at the top, connect the lines at the top middle and bottom with a slight curve in the line
5. While the glass paint is still wet, sprinkle some glitter on the paint (if you want) to make it sparkle
6. After the paint dries, glue on the spider charm

Ghost Wine Glass Candle Holder

Ghost candle holders are an easy, fun and quick craft that will add a little ghoul to your home for the Halloween season.

Supplies:

• Wine glass
• White acrylic paint
• Black acrylic paint
• Paint brush
• Candle
• Hot Glue

Method:

1. Using the black paint, paint a face on the inside of a glass. I just did eyes and a curvy smile
2. After the black paint is completely dry (I blow-dried mine because I’m impatient), paint the inside of the glass white and use as many coats as you need to make it thick
3. To mount the candle, hot glue the candle to the base of the wine glass

Wine Cork Pumpkin

This craft you will have to prepare for in advance because you need 34 wine corks! Ask for a little help from your friends and enjoy some, and by some I mean a lot of, Loudoun wine then make this beautiful cork pumpkin.

              Supplies:

• 34 corks
• Orange paint
  

  Wine Cork Pumpkin

• Paint brush
• Green paper
• Raffia
• Hot Glue gun
• Scissors

              Method:

1. Paint one side, or both if you want, of the corks orange and let dry
2. While waiting for the corks to dry, cut two leaves out of the green paper
3. Make sure the corks are dry, then begin assembling the pumpkin with five on the bottom layer, then six, then seven, then six, then five and finally four for the top using the hot glue. Add one at the top for the stem
4. Glue the paper leaves to the top of the pumpkin
5. Use the raffia to tie a bow around the stem

Ombre Wine Bottles

This craft also requires you to drink some wine for preparation, which is definitely not a bad thing. The ombre wine bottles are quick and easy and brighten up any room for the fall and Halloween season since they resemble yummy candy corn.

             Supplies:

• White spray paint
• Orange spray paint
• Yellow spray paint
• Empty wine bottles (no labels)

            Method:

1. First, make sure the labels are off the bottles (if the labels are on, just soak them in hot water and they will peel right off)
2. Spray the whole bottle white and let dry
3. Spray paint (preferably outside) the middle section of the wine bottles orange. Don’t worry about it being perfect.
4. After the orange dries, spray paint the bottom portion of the bottle with the yellow spray paint and you’re done!
5. If you want to get more creative, then add a second layer of any of the colors to make the paint run down the bottle into the other colors.
