Savor the Season with These Farm-to-Table Events

Fall in Loudoun is a great time for driving the scenic byways, visiting farms during the harvest, and checking out all of the great fall festivals. But harvest in Loudoun means something else to me – it’s that time of the year when the apples, winter squashes, and local meats start appearing on menus in the form of comfort food at its best! Stews, hearty winter soups, savory pies, casseroles, roasted meats and vegetables – these are the foods of fall that warm your body and soul. Many of Loudoun’s restaurants work with local producers to source food for their menus, creating seasonal dishes that convey a sense of time and place on the palate. Here’s a preview of a couple of upcoming dining events highlighting the best of Loudoun’s bounty.

Fields of Athenry Dinner, October 22, Lansdowne Resort
Chef Wes Rosati of Lansdowne Resort regularly works with local producers to create amazing dishes at the resort’s On the Potomac restaurant. This Saturday, October 22nd, On the Potomac is focusing on the products of Fields of Athenry Farm, a Loudoun farm that produces pasture-raised, hormone and antibiotic free meats including pork, lamb, beef, and poultry as well as raw milk cheeses. The fall themed dinner, paired with wines from Sunset Hills Vineyard, will feature four courses, each course highlighting a different Fields of Athenry product.

Best of Middleburg Dinner, November 10, The Goodstone Inn & Estate
Located in the heart of Middleburg’s hunt country, the Goodstone Inn & Estate grows much of the produce featured in the inn’s dining room on their 265 acre estate. What their gardens don’t produce, Executive Chef William Walden strives to source from local farms. Chef Walden wants to introduce you to some of the inn’s favorite local producers during their Best of Middleburg dinner. This multi-course menu will highlight the products of Ayrshire Farm, Oak Spring Dairy, Betty’s Homemade Chips, and Mello Out.

Bon Apetit!
