One of the aspects I like most about tourism marketing is getting participation and feedback from the fans of our great destination here in Loudoun. We were recently blown away by the feedback we got on our LoCo Ale Trail logo design, so we wanted to give our fans another opportunity to provide input on the perfect romantic weekend in Loudoun. In February we  took a page from the old Choose Your Own Adventure books, and ran a Facebook campaign called “To Loudoun, With Love” that allowed you to pick your ideal itinerary. We asked everyone to select their preferred accommodation style, culinary experience, and local activities to build a unique getaway. After 1,500 entries we drew a winner, who will be experiencing Loudoun by staying in wine country, feasting on a farm-to-table dinner, relaxing with a spa package, and reminiscing about it all over brunch. Here is her itinerary for the weekend:

Fieldstone Farm
poolFieldstone Farm, located in the historic village of Hillsboro Virginia is surrounded by wineries in Western Loudoun. This Quaker built stone manor was erected in 1770 and sits on 30 acres nestled in “The Gap” between Short Hill Mountains with views of the Blue Ridge. Our waterfall 2winner will be able to spend her afternoon strolling through native plant gardens, herb and vegetable gardens, a wildflower meadow and hiking through the woodlands. An evening dip in the heated outdoor pool will complete a perfect first day in Loudoun.

Spa MinéraleDavid Phelps_A.tif

Our winner was seeking a relaxing weekend getaway, and will escape to an oasis of serenity at Lansdowne Resort’s Spa Minérale. She and her guest will each enjoy a 50 Minute Just Breathe Swedish Massage and Spa Minérale Manicure and Pedicure. The 12,000 square-foot luxury day spa overlooks the Potomac River and offers a divine menu of classic and innovative therapies and salon treatments.

Clyde’s Willow Creek Farm

Clydes Main BarAndrea and her guest will head to Clyde’s Willow Creek Farm for a farm-to-table experience packaged inside the Victorian inspired barn originally constructed in 1885. Willow Creek Farm is stunningly decorated with original artwork, historic artifacts and a collection of museum quality 18th century horse-drawn carriages. The restaurant was recently featured in an Eater DC article for being “Farm-to-Table Before It Was Cool”.

WK Hearth

WK Hearth BrunchWK Hearth applies the central idea of “Eat, Drink, Simply” to Italian cuisine. Featuring a brick oven and cozy atmosphere, the restaurant is located in the historic Cole Farmhouse in Purcellville, created with the comfort and authentic hospitality of an Italian country villa. WK Hearth has built strong relationships with the local community and is committed to sourcing local ingredients. With local brunch favorites like Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Crab Cake Benedict, and Corned Duck Hash, the weekend is sure to finish on a delicious note.
