Fall at Breaux

Election Day is finally here and after months of political commercials, debates and office banter on who will be the next President, the race for the White House is coming to an end. We are still hours away from knowing who will live at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but some celebrities have already said they will leave the country, pending the results. Instead of renewing your passport to move, escape the DC politics to Loudoun where you can either celebrate, or commiserate tonight’s results.

Here are five reasons to visit Loudoun post- Election Day

  1. Experience the country life
.

.

While only an hour outside of Washington, D.C., Loudoun’s winding, unpaved roads surrounded by horse farms, vineyards and historic estates make you feel like you are a world away from the bustle of the city. Book a weekend getaway to a B&B like Serene Manor where you can also enjoy horseback riding, or explore the farm at Goodstone Inn and meet Oliver the rescue pig.

  1. A glimpse into simpler times

Take a trip back in time when politics weren’t monopolizing commercials and social media feeds with a trip to some of Loudoun’s beautiful historic homes. Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea at Oatlands Historic House & Gardens or explore the mansion of former Virginia Governor Westmoreland Davis at Morven Park.  Or, learn about the man behind the Marshall Plan at The Marshall House in Leesburg.

  1. Raise a glass….

Whether you want to drink away your sorrows or clink glasses and say cheers to the next President, Loudoun is the perfect place to find Sunset Hills fallaward-winning wine, craft beer and spirits. Loudoun is home to 40 wineries, 20 craft breweries and some great distilleries. Check out the LoCo Ale Trail or our wine trail guide to start planning your trip.

  1. Retail therapy

It is never too soon to start holiday shopping and, what better way to clear your mind then to browse through hundreds of great shops. Start at Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets to find brand-name deals at more than 110 stores. After, visit the historic towns of Leesburg, Purcellville or Middleburg for art galleries, antiques and boutiques filled with one-of-a-kind treasures.

  1. An adrenaline rush awaits

fallLoudoun is full of adventures that will get your heart pumping and mood soaring. Take the high road no matter the election results at iFly- an indoor skydiving facility- or with a zipline tour from Harpers Ferry Adventure Center or Empower Adventures. If your anger is still getting the best of you, try hitting a few balls at TopGolf or gather friends for a round of paintball at Pev’s Paintball Park.

These are just some of the many reasons Loudoun makes a perfect escape following the election. For more great ideas, visit www.visitloudoun.org. Be sure share how you spend your time in Loudoun with us on social media using #LoveLoudoun.
