Celebrating Warmer Weather
The sun is shining and, even though I’m a redhead who gets burnt walking from my car to the office everyday, it’s exciting to know that Spring is finally here! There is something so refreshing about getting out in the warm weather to soak up the sun and take in the fresh air. In order to celebrate Spring, here are some of my favorite activities in Loudoun:
Hike The Appalachian Trail
The 2,174-mile path that travels from Georgia to Maine passes through Loudoun County from the south of Route 50 all the way up to Harpers Ferry. The chunk of the path is referred to as the “Roller Coaster” because of the many ups and downs along the way. Don’t let the name scare you. There are many portions of the trail in Loudoun that are perfect for day or weekend hikes. You can see it for yourself here and begin planning your trip to venture onto the famous Appalachian Trail.
Bike the W&OD Trail
Knowing how to ride a bike is something you never forget so why not do it in an unforgettable location. The Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park is a 45-mile long trail that runs from Shirlington to Purcellville and was built on a former railroad. Make the journey even more fun by using the Brews By Bike LoCo Ale Trail itinerary to grab a beer on the way.
Zipline at Empower Adventures
Feel the sun on your face and the wind through your hair as you soar through the trees at Empower Adventures of Middleburg! Empower Adventures offers the opportunity to traverse the 20 acre multi-line course with high elevations and speed! While there, you can participate in rappelling, hiking, survival training and more!
Raft with Harpers Ferry Adventure Center
Harpers Ferry Adventure Center offers a wide range of exciting outdoor adventures like tubing, aerial adventure parks, kayaking, camping, segway tours and of course white water rafter through the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers! Enjoy the exciting rapids and beauty of Loudoun while you venture the course!
